We were awoken this morning at 4:08 by a 2.6 EARTHQUAKE!!! Here! In Roanoke, VA! It was WILD!
The house literally shook for 3-4 seconds... the windows rattled, the furniture shook, it was loud. And then it stopped. We had no clue what happened... did a tree fall? Did one of the hospital's helicopters crash into the yard? Was there a train crash in the railyard not too far away? Did our A/C unit just explode? ;) We got out of bed and heard my parents in the kitchen. They had no clue what happened so we went outside to see if we could see anything... smoke, fire, hear police/ambulance/fire.... nothing. We thought it was an earthquake but those aren't supposed to happen around here so we turned on the TV to the local stations to see what was going on. Nothing! My dad got on USGS.com and sure enough around 4:40, a listing of a 2.6 earthquake in the Cave Spring area of Roanoke occured at 4:08. The center was about 2 miles away from the house so that is why we felt it harder than others talking about it on Facebook this morning.
As a neurotic child, my parents always told me that tornados & earthquakes couldn't happen in SW Virginia. LIARS!! haha

Welcome 2009!
AJ & I bought a Wii back in November on a whim and have loved playing tennis, bowling, etc. We had been looking around for a Wii Fit for a while but with the holidays, they were hard to find. I finally found one on Ebay and we LOVE it!
AJ & I have both gained significant weight since the college days and are hoping that this will help us with taking some (most) of it back off. I guess you could say it is our New Years Resolution to get in shape. I am hesitant in saying "New Years Resolution" because I've only ever kept up with a resolution and that was in 2007 when I wanted to read 50 books in 1 year (I exceeded that!). Hopefully we will stick with this...
If you are reading this, please help us stay accountable!! We don't like being fat!!

Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!
AJ & I spent Thanksgiving in New Jersey with family. We ate dinner on Thursday with AJ's parent's, Michael, Josephine, Chris, Bobby, Tony & Janet. It was delicious! I made my annual Cranberry Salad and it was a hit! (Thank you for the fool proof receipe, Mom!)
We went to Long Island on Friday for AJ's cousin's wedding. It was so great seeing AJ's aunt & uncle and cousins... I wish we saw them more often! The wedding was absolutely beautiful and so much fun.
Congratulations to (Big) AJ and Vanessa!!

Hey Strangers!
I think I'm going to start posting here more often.
I got a new job in October. An 8-5 job!! Now that I have a normal schedule, I can actually get back to being domestic... cooking, baking, cleaning, etc.
I have a couple of new recipes that AJ & I have tried so keep watching!

Our First House!

Since starting my new job in November, I have been VERY BAD at my quest to become domesticated! The hours I work at very hectic so while I haven't been cooking that much, we have done something completely domestic.
WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!
After a few weeks of looking around Roanoke, we found "the one" in SW Roanoke City. We love it and are scheduled to close on March 6th. Keep your fingers crossed for us!!
